Our Commitment to Privacy
At Sidekick, we believe that privacy is a fundamental right, especially when it comes to children. We've built our app with privacy by design, ensuring that your family's data remains secure and private at all times.
Data Collection and Storage
What We Collect:
- • Child profiles (names, ages, and preferences you provide)
- • Task and routine completion data and privilege card usage
- • App preferences and earning settings
- • Device information necessary for secure CloudKit sync
What We DON'T Collect:
- • Location data
- • Third-party app usage
- • Biometric data
- • Contact information from your device
CloudKit and Data Security
Sidekick uses your Apple iCloud account via CloudKit for secure data synchronization across your devices. This means:
- ✓Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
- ✓Your app data resides in your personal iCloud account; we do not operate our own data servers for your content
- ✓Data stays within Apple's secure ecosystem (private CloudKit database)
- ✓Data syncs across devices signed in with the same Apple ID
Third-Party Service Providers
Your children's profiles, routines, cards, and activity history stay on your devices and in your private iCloud. To power specific features, Sidekick uses carefully selected third-party processors:
- • Apple CloudKit (iCloud) to sync your family's app data between your devices
- • Optional cloud AI suggestions. This setting is off by default. Sidekick uses Apple's on-device AI when your device supports it. If you turn on Cloud AI Suggestions in Settings and on-device AI is not available, Sidekick sends card and routine names, usage statistics, and your child's age to a third-party AI model provider through our server to generate suggestions. Your child's profile name is never sent. You can turn this off at any time.
- • Google Analytics for Firebase to understand anonymous app usage, such as which screens and features are used. Analytics events do not include names or the content you enter.
- • RevenueCat and Apple to process subscriptions and restore purchases
We do not sell your data, and we do not use children's data for advertising.
Website Analytics
Our marketing website uses cookieless, aggregated analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and which App Store links are clicked. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics and our own event endpoint hosted on Cloudflare. These tools do not set cookies or store anything on your device, and we do not store IP addresses. Cloudflare processes your IP address only to deliver pages and these requests. We do not use cross-site advertising cookies.
COPPA Compliance
Sidekick is designed with children's privacy as a top priority and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We:
- • Never collect personal information from children without parental consent
- • Do not sell or share children's information for advertising
- • Use third-party processors only as necessary to provide the service, as described above
- • Allow parents to review and delete their child's information
Your Rights and Controls
You have control over your family's data:
- • Export your family's activity (usage history) from within the app
- • Delete individual profiles or all data
- • Keep data local by disabling iCloud for Sidekick in iOS settings
- • Turn Cloud AI Suggestions on or off in Sidekick Settings
- • Request comprehensive data export or deletion by contacting us
